On the
4th November our Honorary
Member,
Reg, celebrated his 109th birthday and the Club
marked this momentous occasion by toasting
Reg
with excellent wine that he donated to the Club. We,
like the Queen, look forward to his 110th birthday next year. Many Happy returns
Reg
from all your Rotary colleagues, their ladies and the many friends world
wide.
On 9th November
JP David
took part in a Fashion
show at
Masson Mill organised by the
Rotary Club of Amber Valley
along with
DG Gordon. As a result
of David
and
Gordon
‘strutting their stuff’
£760 was raised for the
Derbyshire Children’s
Holiday Centre in Skegness.
During
the month we had excellent speakers in the shape of our very own
JP David
who gave an overview of
his role is heading up International Trade at the
Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce.
The following week an inspirational talk was given by the
Derby

supporting on the Santa Run along with
Rainbows Hospice

who all showed enthusiasm and determination to impress the judges. The WIRKS
editor will be publishing details separately
On
Sunday 20th November Joint
President Mike
completed the arduous British Heart Foundation
walk.
Many members of the Club supported
Mike by making donations to this worthy charity which is our
own District Governor’s charity. Well done
Mike!
November
is probably the busiest month for planning the Club’s Christmas activities
starting with the erection of the
Christmas tree
in the Market Place followed by the
Carol service and switch on of lights on Saturday 3rd December. This will be
followed by the Santa Run
on Sunday morning 4th December at
Carsington. Christmas
collections will be made during the month of December at both Sainsbury's
and the Co-op in Matlock along with the annual collections on the Market
Place in Wirksworth. Both
David
and
Mike
would ask
ALL Rotarians to
support these events. Thanks go to those Chairs who have put a lot of time
into the planning and the organisation of these projects. It’s now up to us
to ensure their success.
This
