It was bitterly cold, it blew a gale and it poured with rain but we were pleased to see walkers willing to take part in our Carsington Circle Walk on
Sunday 29th
.April

At our meeting on26th April we were joined by Derek and Caroline Rosslin from the the Rotary Club of Newark Castle and Joint President David had great pleasure in presenting Caroline with a cheque for £1,000 for Rainbows from the money raised by the Santa Run.

At the same meeting £500 was presented to First Responders who were represented by Terry Gregory, Carol Gregory and Nikki Gregory. A family affair!

District Governor Gordon McGlone and Lorraine with members of the Rotary Club of Wirksworth and friends who attended the District Conference 2011 at Scarborough and served as Assistant Sergeants-atArms.

Lorraine McGlone
Our new Honorary Rotarian

Joint President David gave Lorraine her Rotary Badge at the meeting on Thursday 6th Oct. The presentation marked the election of Lorraine as an Honorary Member of our club in recognition of the continuing support she is giving to Gordon during his year as District Governor and all our members. Lorraine thanked the Club, saying how much it would help as she continues to accompany Gordon on his many visits to clubs as our District Governor.  As busy as ever,  Lorraine left our meeting shortly afterwards to attend a meeting of Alfreton Inner Wheel of which she is President

On Saturday 24th June  a 'working crew' finally located and secured the two Rotary seats just outside the Memorial Gardens. It proved a difficult job as the seats were very heavy, emphasis on the heavy, as did the drilling through concrete. However with a truck and equipment supplied by George Millward and of course his leadership qualities, the crew took approximately 2.5 hours to complete the task. It would have been a lot longer if it were not for sub contractor Frank Dakin who rescued the operation with his expertise in drilling.   Coffees and teas were sponsored by George during this arduous task.

THE 2011 WELL-DRESSING was once again drawn by our very good friend Andrew Hamilton of Bonsall who was responsible for this innovative picture from which we were able to produce the dressing for display.
