PLEASE NOTE WE NOW MEET AT:
Waltham House, Wirksworth (Opposite the Memorial Hall)

We have welcomed a new member, John Dolan

Terry Leivers, District 1220 Rotary Foundation Chairman, said "It was delightful to see Arnold presented with the District Foundation Award by DG Tony Stimpson at the District Handover for his work with the Foundation. However, this was followed by the well deserved award of a Paul Harris Sapphire Pin and it was a rare occasion to see Arnold speechless!"

At the beginning of our new Rotary Year President Ian presented donations to the local Scout Group and Help for Heroes. PICTURE GALLERY

Our new President Ian Dolby received his chain of office from (now Past President) Peter Watson at our meeting on 1st July PICTURE GALLERY

COMMUNITY AWARD: Many people go out of their way to help their fellow citizens, often receiving little or no recognition for their efforts.  In 1998 our Club established an award for service to the community to give the general public an opportunity of thanking those people whose good works might otherwise go unnoticed. The recipient of the award is selected from nominations submitted by the general public. In this way, the Rotary Club’s Community Service Award facilitates the public’s appreciation of meritorious voluntary service in the community.

This year’s award was presented to Mrs. Kathryn Wood on Thursday 3 June 2010.

Kath has been in the Guide Movement since she joined as a Brownie. She has held various posts in the Guide Movement, including that of District Commissioner. Kath has a wonderful, caring attitude towards young people and her influence over many years, on literally hundreds of girls, has been tremendous. Photo in the PICTURE GALLERY

An impressive Well-Dressing was produced this year and attracted a lot of favourable comments (and generous donations to our charities) when displayed during the Spring bank Holiday.
